Description
TELEHEALTH CONSULTANT PSYCHIATRIST AUSTRALIA-WIDE
Premium private psychiatry. On your terms.
If you are a fellowed consultant looking to leave the public-sector grind, or to step out of a private practice that is not working for you, this advert is written for you.
Earn $4,500–$5,500 on a typical six-session consulting day — up to $900 per hour for comprehensive new-patient assessments. Transparent fee split. No rolling platform penalties.
Choose your hours, patients, and scope — school hours, evenings, two days a week, ten days a fortnight. You select referrals; you decline the ones that aren’t for you.
No inpatient, no on-call, no after-hours — and the medico-legal load is held at platform level, not on your shoulders alone.
ABOUT PSYCHIATRISTS AUSTRALIA
Psychiatrists Australia is a clinician-led private telehealth practice for the consultant who wants the autonomy of private practice without rebuilding the billing, intake, governance and compliance infrastructure from scratch.
We are deliberately not a high-volume script service. We are not an ADHD mill. We are built for fellowed psychiatrists who want time for proper assessment, properly triaged referrals from a screened GP network, and a clinical governance framework that actually protects the consultant.
WHY OUR CONSULTANTS MOVED HERE
Time the diagnosis actually needs. 60–90 minutes for new patients. Subsequent reviews at clinically appropriate length. Billed under the correct MBS items, every time.
Referrals you can stand behind. GP referrals screened against intake criteria before they reach you. Comorbid presentations flagged. Inappropriate referrals filtered out before your time is committed.
Schedule 8 prescribing supported, not pressured. Real-time prescription monitoring is built into the workflow. The platform supports compliant prescribing where indicated; nobody pushes a stimulant script you do not want to write.
Paperwork off your desk. Billing, Medicare claiming, intake coordination, patient communication, secure document handling, eScripts, recall management — all handled by a dedicated admin team.
Clinical governance you can rely on. Documented governance framework, Clinical Director, quarterly governance committee, peer review pathway. The structure protects you in any AHPRA, PSR or coronial moment.
Indemnity that fits the scope. We confirm professional indemnity coverage for telehealth before you start. Disciplinary representation cover included where your medical defence organisation provides it.
CLINICAL SCOPE
We are recruiting consultants whose practice covers some or all of the following:
Adult ADHD assessment to DSM-5-TR with the DIVA-5 structured interview — with the time the diagnosis actually requires
Mood disorders across the full spectrum, including bipolar II where longitudinal history matters
Autism Spectrum Disorder assessments
Trauma-related presentations, including chronic and complex
Eating disorders where medical and psychiatric layers require integrated holding
Anxiety, OCD, and the comorbid presentations that make up the substantive part of consultant practice
Subspecialty interest is welcomed. Certificate of Advanced Training holders in addiction, perinatal, old age, consultationliaison, forensic, or psychotherapies will receive referrals routed to align with the registered area of practice.
WHAT YOU BRING
AHPRA specialist registration with the Medical Board
FRANZCP — Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists
Specialist Medicare provider number eligibility
Professional indemnity insurance covering telehealth practice
Established consultants and recently fellowed psychiatrists both welcome. Telehealth experience is welcome but not essential. A structured onboarding process is built for consultants new to telehealth.
THE CONVERSATION
There is no application form. We respect that consultant time is the scarcest resource in this conversation.
Send a brief expression of interest with a current CV and a short note on the kind of caseload you would like to work with. The first conversation is a thirty-minute confidential call with a senior member of the practice. Decisions are typically made within two weeks of that call. Onboarding is paced to suit your existing commitments.
EXPRESS INTEREST E admin@psychiatristsaustralia.com.au P 1300 652 935 W psychiatristsaustralia.com.au
Psychiatrists Australia welcomes interest from psychiatrists of all backgrounds across Australia. Indicative billing figures are based on a typical six-session consulting day at our standard fee schedule and depend on actual case mix, MBS rebate eligibility, and patient gap arrangements; specific terms are confirmed in the engagement documentation provided after first contact.
