HR Consulting Solutions is a national executive search firm that has been retained by River Valley AgCredit to conduct a search for an Attorney to join their growing team in Paducah, KY.
ATTORNEY POSITION SUMMARY
River Valley AgCredit has an exciting opportunity for an Attorney to serve as internal legal counsel and a trusted legal advisor to the Association’s leadership team and Board of Directors. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Attorney will research and analyze legal matters, provide guidance related to lending operations and loan administration, advise on internal corporate matters, and support the Association’s risk management and internal control functions. This individual will also play an important role in managing and maintaining organizational bylaws, policies, and procedures and helping ensure business practices remain aligned with applicable legal and regulatory requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who wants to move beyond traditional law practice and become an integral part of the leadership and decision-making functions of a respected financial institution serving agriculture and rural communities.
PRIMARY WORK LOCATION
- Paducah, KY
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Successful completion of a state bar examination and qualified to practice law in the state.
- Minimum of one to three years of law practice experience.
- Strong legal research, analysis, judgment, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate legal and regulatory concepts to management, employees, and members of the Board.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with or knowledge of laws and regulations governing financial institutions.
- Experience in banking, lending, financial services, agricultural finance, or another highly regulated industry.
- Understanding of litigation, bankruptcy, collections, workouts, and negotiated settlement procedures.
- Experience interpreting and developing organizational policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of compliance, internal controls, risk management, or regulatory examination processes.
- Familiarity with agricultural lending, agricultural practices, or the Farm Credit System is beneficial but not required.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and complex matters.
- Sound professional judgment and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters appropriately.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships throughout an organization.
PRIMARY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research and analyze internal legal issues and provide legal opinions, recommendations, and guidance to management and the Board of Directors.
- Advise officers and Board members on legal questions and procedures related to lending operations, loan administration, and internal corporate matters.
- Work collaboratively with General Counsel as appropriate to determine and protect the Association’s legal interests.
- Provide an additional level of internal control for credit processes and policies.
- Manage and maintain the Association’s bylaws and policies and procedures manual.
- Coordinate processes for policy and procedure development, adoption, publication, review, and revision.
- Monitor regulatory, legal, policy, and procedural developments affecting the Association.
- Assist with coordinating and conducting employee training related to applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Support the Association’s overall risk management function.
- Provide guidance related to litigation, bankruptcy, negotiated settlements, and other legal matters affecting the Association.
- Partner with leadership to identify potential legal and regulatory risks and recommend appropriate solutions.
