Position Description:
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide recruitment efforts and academic counseling for prospective and currently enrolled students in the LPN-to-BSN Pathway at the University of Louisville School of Nursing (SON) and partnering schools. This position will provide leadership to the School of Nursing LPN-BSN pathway program and serve as the principle administrative liaison between LPN-BSN pathway students, RN-BSN Program Director, KCTCS partners, and the HRSA grant team. This requires close collaboration with academic and community partners, interpretation of university policies, procedures and academic requirements, analyzing and tracking applications, and retention and recruitment efforts.
This position will include conducting LPN-to-BSN student orientations, assessment of credentials, preparation of academic plans, admissions, and providing excellent customer service. It includes connecting students with support services, and some financial aid and career counseling. This position will require some travel, including overnight travel, throughout Kentucky. This is a grant-funded position and will terminate when the grant ends.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Student Advising: Advise current and prospective LPN-to-BSN Pathway students per unit and university policies and procedures. Work extensively with the KCTCS transfer office and community partners across the state to ensure a smooth admission and transfer process for prospective students to matriculate.
- Student Support: Connect LPN-to-BSN Pathway students with academic, financial, and social resources and make referrals, as necessary. Maintain LPN-to-BSN Pathway scholarship applications and communication with applicants as necessary. Establish rapport and maintain close contact with prospective and current students to support retention. Identify and implement interventions to promote retention and timely completion.
- Data collection management: Facilitate the student data collection for external reporting to HRSA. Collaborate with SON administrators to ensure proper gathering of recruitment, retention, enrollment, and graduation/completion data. Communicate data to SON academic program leaders, Academic Affairs Committees, and SON administration as needed for program quality and regulatory reporting.
- Student admissions: Manage the LPN-BSN pathway admission process including maintaining programmatic content pages, communicating with prospective applicants, and coordinating faculty review of applications.
- Student programming: Provide orientations for LPN-to-BSN Pathway students. Create and deliver appropriate presentation materials. Oversee external LPN-BSN pathway student programming and activities to foster student engagement and promote student networking in the community.
- Recruitment and special events: Collaborate with marketing and SON admission counselor to promote the LPN-BSN program in the community. In collaboration with academic and practice partners, lead LPN-to-BSN Pathway recruitment efforts throughout western, central, and eastern Kentucky. Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective LPN-to-BSN pathway students. Manage recruitment materials used for the LPN-to-BSN Pathway program including handouts, brochures, and website. Develop and maintain recruitment and application databases and provide statistical information when requested. Occasional recruitment and special events may occur on weekends or evenings.
- Travel between university buildings and campuses to attend meetings and assist students, as well as travel (driving) to academic and community partners throughout the state.
- Other HRSA LPN-to-BSN Pathway grant duties, as required.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in higher education or related field that includes advising and/or counseling.
