Coherence was founded by Patrick Hanaway, MD - co-founder and former Medical Director of the Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine, senior IFM educator, 40+ years clinical - and Kush Sharma (Harvard CS, prior healthcare founder) to make chronic disease reversal the standard of care in America.

We're building the system to scale root-cause medicine to millions of people, starting with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. We deliver full root-cause treatment at ~$200/month to the patient by building software that automates what can be automated so clinicians and coaches can focus on human connection, attunement, and guidance.

We're hiring a founding health coach to guide patients through a comprehensive functional medicine protocol and help design the coaching model from the ground up.

This is not a supporting role. In our model, the health coach is the patient's primary touchpoint - the one guiding them through the full arc of recovery across body, mind, and spirit. You're the one who helps them understand why they're sick, what to do about it, and how to actually follow through. Our external clinical model is rooted in functional medicine. But the deeper model - and where we're headed - spans traditions: Ayurveda, indigenous healing, Reiki, mind-body medicine. If that lights you up, keep reading.

What you'll do:

• Serve as the primary guide for Hashimoto's patients through a root-cause protocol spanning functional nutrition, detox support, stress physiology, sleep, and the deeper emotional and spiritual dimensions of healing
• Collaborate closely with Patrick Hanaway and our clinical lead Lauren Bachman, NP (Mayo Clinic, Fountain Life) through case reviews and direct collaboration
• Work with AI-powered tools that synthesize patient data and surface insights so you can focus on what matters most: the human relationship
• Help design the coaching system from the ground up - intake flows, coaching cadences, escalation protocols, mind-body integration. You're co-creating the playbook, not executing someone else's

Requirements

Must-Haves:

• Deep functional nutrition knowledge - well beyond a typical coaching certification. Experience with autoimmune conditions strongly preferred. This might look like advanced certifications, an RD, NBC-HWC, or specialized training. We care about what you know and can do.
• A strong personal practice - yoga, meditation, breathwork, prayer, time in nature. We believe the best coaches are people actively engaged in their own growth.
• Meaningful coaching experience with complex patients in a functional, integrative, or root-cause setting. You have real opinions about how coaching should be structured.
• Comfort across the full spectrum of healing - chronic stress, sleep, relationships, emotional patterns, spiritual dimensions. Not just nutritional protocols.
• A builder's mindset. You're joining a startup, not a wellness center. You should be excited about designing systems, not just executing within them.
• Comfort with technology and genuine curiosity about how software can support the healing relationship.

Amazing If You Have:

• Personal connection to Hashimoto's or autoimmune disease - whether through your own healing journey or walking closely with someone you love
• Training in holistic or traditional healing systems - Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, mind-body medicine, or similar
• Experience designing coaching programs, intake flows, or clinical workflows from scratch

Logistics:

• Start: Mid-April 2026
• ~10 hr/wk contract ramping to full-time if mutual fit
• ~$50/hr based on experience + equity
• Remote (New York-based is a nice-to-have)
