Duties and Responsibilities

The Development Associate will be responsible for supporting the Development Director in ensuring the success of the development strategic plan, managing a personal portfolio of gifts prospects, managing the donor database, data entry, and gift acknowledgment. The Development Associate will also work closely with the Development Director to produce social media content, website updates, e-newsletter, and bi-annual newsletter.

Strategic Resource Development

  • Manage the Center’s donor database and direct donor communications, including data entry, reports, and acknowledgment letters.
  • Run financial and statistical reports from the donor management system as needed to support the Development Director.

Annual Giving, Major Gifts, and Special Events

  • Collaborate with the Development Director to create and execute plans related to donor retention and new donor acquisition.
  • Manage the creation of innovative and responsive campaign materials and bi-annual newsletter.
  • Alongside the Development Director, manage all aspects of the Center’s annual fundraiser “An Evening for the Children’s Advocacy Center” including soliciting sponsorships, auction items, and individual ticket sales, designing promotional materials, and coordinating event logistics.

Marketing & Communications

  • Maintain and regularly update the Center’s website.
  • Create a content calendar to drive thoughtful social media posts.
  • Write and/or update marketing materials to promote resource development.
  • Work with the Development Director to create campaign materials, e-newsletter, and the bi-annual newsletter.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and a minimum of two to four years of professional development and/or marketing experience.
  • The successful candidate will be a dynamic and self-motivated individual who is also creative, resourceful, detail-oriented, and flexible. Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate tact, good judgment, and cultural sensitivity.
  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic and the ability to work well as a team member including interacting with staff, community professionals, and volunteers.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency including mastery of all standard business software and social media platforms.
  • Commitment to the highest levels of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Ability to pass both a criminal and child abuse and neglect background check
