The University of Louisville is recruiting an academic Surgeon, Anesthesiologist or Emergency Medicine Physician with subspecialty certification in critical care. The Intensivists lead the multi-disciplinary Cardiovascular Surgical ICU (CVICU) team at the University of Louisville – Heart Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. This 17-bed closed unit houses cardiac surgical patients, critically ill patients requiring mechanical circulatory support, heart/lung/liver transplant recipients, and patients with unstable ascending aortic disease. The CVICU team is comprised of physicians, non-physician providers, and dedicated nurses, pharmacists, and therapists. In addition, the CVICU regularly hosts medical students and post-graduate trainees from the University of Louisville School of Medicine including Critical Care Anesthesiology and Acute Care/Trauma Surgery fellows. Opportunities exist for teaching, research, and scholarly effort as well as clinical time in Surgery, Anesthesiology or Emergency Medicine. Academic rank will be commensurate with the qualifications, experience, and interest of the candidate. The CVICU faculty members reside within the Department of Surgery.

The successful candidate is a Diplomat of the American Board of Anesthesiology or the American Board of Surgery, has completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship in critical care, and is board-certified or board-eligible in Critical Care. Active medical licensure in the state of Kentucky, active BLS and ACLS certification, and possession of an unrestricted DEA number will be necessary.
