About the role
We are seeking a Certified Outpatient (CCS/CIC/CPC) and Certified Inpatient (CCS/CIC) Medical Coders to join the Shearwater Health team. This is a full-time, remote role, offering a competitive salary and excellent benefits.
As a Certified Outpatient Medical Coder, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate and compliant medical coding for our healthcare clients.
What you'll be doing
- Accurately code outpatient medical records using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
- Review medical documentation to identify the correct diagnostic and procedural codes
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies
- Maintain detailed records and adhere to coding guidelines and regulations
- Provide regular reports on coding productivity and quality metrics
- Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date with coding changes and best practices
What we're looking for
- Must be a bachelor's degree graduate of any medical allied/ allied health courses
- Must have an active and updated medical coding certification: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) OR Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) OR Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC)
- Minimum of 1 year experience in outpatient sds medical coding
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in using coding software and electronic medical record systems
